Organismo vivo/Levande Organism is a performance that has been conceived to take place at Naturhistoriska riksmuseet with the support of Stockholm Stad and the Spanish Embassy.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our everyday life has been altered. Museums and cultural institutions have been closed. What happens in these places when there are no visitors? Are the museums alive? What use do these cultural spaces have in times of pandemic? How can they contribute to creating a reflection of the times we are living in?
“What is life?” is a linguistic trap. To answer according to the rules of grammar, we must supply a noun, a thing. But life on Earth is more like a verb. It is a material process, surfing over matter like a strange slow wave. It is a controlled artistic chaos, a set of chemical reactions so staggeringly complex that more than 4 billion years ago it began a sojourn that now, in human form, composes love letters and uses silicon computers to calculate the temperature of matter at the birth of the universe. The Spanish biologist and artist Marta Pinilla aims to create an aesthetic reflection of the current situation through a performance that will insert no-labelled in a context where nature remains calm and silent. In this still nature, Marta Pinilla, in collaboration with the Spanish dancer Mireia Piñol, will break the stillness of the place by inserting themselves dressed as ‘living bodies. These bodies will move around the museum discovering the different specimens on display as if they were on a scientific expedition. From home, the online spectators will become watchmen of these individuals, observing from a distance how the beings go through the different galleries of the museum and interact with the exhibited specimens.

Organismo vivo/Levande Organism es una performance que ha sido concebida para tener lugar en Naturhistoriska riksmuseet con el apoyo de Stockholm Stad y la Embajada de España.
Debido a la pandemia de COVID-19, nuestra vida cotidiana se ha visto alterada. Los museos y las instituciones culturales han sido cerrados. ¿Qué sucede en estos lugares cuando no hay visitantes? ¿Están vivos los museos? ¿Qué utilidad tienen estos espacios culturales en tiempos de pandemia? ¿Cómo pueden contribuir a crear un reflejo de los tiempos que estamos viviendo?
¿Qué es la vida?” es una trampa lingüística. Para responder de acuerdo con las reglas de la gramática, debemos proporcionar un sustantivo, una cosa. Pero la vida en la Tierra es más como un verbo. Es un proceso material, que navega sobre la materia como una extraña ola lenta. Es un caos artístico controlado, un conjunto de reacciones químicas tan asombrosamente complejas que hace más de 4000 millones de años comenzó una estancia que ahora, en forma humana, compone cartas de amor y usa computadoras de silicio para calcular la temperatura de la materia en el nacimiento de el universo. La bióloga y artista española Marta Pinilla pretende crear un reflejo estético de la situación actual a través de una performance que insertará sin etiqueta en un contexto donde la naturaleza permanece en calma y en silencio. En esta naturaleza inmóvil, Marta Pinilla, en colaboración con la bailarina española Mireia Piñol, romperá la quietud del lugar insertándose vestidos como “cuerpos vivos”. Estos cuerpos se moverán por el museo descubriendo los diferentes ejemplares expuestos como si se tratara de una expedición científica. Desde casa, los espectadores online se convertirán en vigilantes de estos individuos, observando desde la distancia cómo los seres recorren las diferentes salas del museo e interactúan con los ejemplares expuestos.
